We all remember watching those iconic Disney classics and being enchanted by their tales of adventure and magic. Growing up, these films taught the world about the limitless possibilities life has to offer, introducing viewers to an array of iconic characters. The arrival of Disney Plus brings a nostalgic sense of wonder back into people’s homes while enchanting a whole new generation of viewers.
First off, the platform’s price is less than its top competitor, Netflix, costing $6.99 per month, or $69.99 per year, compared to Netflix’s least inclusive plan, starting at $8.99. However, the question remains: is it worth the additional expense for yet another streaming service claiming it “offers it all”?
Skeptical that a high school junior, such as myself, would enjoy using the service, I decided to check it out. Creating an account was intriguing. Picking out an icon was almost as exciting as watching the content. Sharpay Evans, diva of the High School Musical trilogy, now welcomes me to my account every time I open it.
The streaming service offers hundreds of films and dozens of shows aimed at everyone from toddlers to teens, adults to certified Disney cinephiliacs. Disney Plus also provides their own highly-awaited original series such as “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” and “The Mandalorian,” a program based on the events of the Star Wars franchise, which is sure to pique fans’ interests.
Both the diversity and quantity of content available on this platform make selecting what to watch difficult, being that there are so many incredible options to choose from. Scrolling through Disney’s selections and coming across animated classics of my childhood, a wave of nostalgia washes over me. From Disney and Pixar classics such as Cinderella and Peter Pan, to Marvel and Star Wars action films, as well as National Geographic adventures, this service includes nearly everything anyone would wish for!
It’s no surprise that Disney Plus is doing incredibly well. The streaming site already grasped millions of subscriptions this early into its launch.
Disney Plus is definitely worth a subscription. It offers viewers quantity and quality content. So, splurge on an account! Spend the extra seven dollars each month. With the gigantic Disney library available at the tap of one’s finger, anything becomes possible with some of that famous Disney magic… or Disney pixie dust.
