One of the newest clubs to come to Oyster Bay High School is The Birthday Wishes Club. The club has become one of the most popular in the school and for good reason. The Birthday Wishes Organization is a non-profit organization that does charitable work, hosting several birthday parties a month for children in homeless shelters. In its short existence, our school’s chapter of the club has done a tremendous amount of work for this organization.

Oyster Bay High School alumnus Amanda Byrne, a dedicated member of The Birthday Wishes Organization, was responsible for forming the Birthday Wishes Club at our school. The club has grown from its original 10-12 members to approximately fifty members strong. The club members create decorations and goodies to put in a Goodie Bag for the children. In turn, the “Goodie Bags” are given to the Birthday Wishes Organization to distribute to children at homeless shelters. In addition, the club has held fundraisers and has raised over $800.00 to buy much needed supplies for children in shelters.
The faculty advisor of the club is Ms. Brittany Badean. When asked about the accomplishments of the club, Ms. Badean gave full credit to the student members, indicating, “It is so nice that all these students want to participate in something like this.” She emphasized that “new members are always welcome.”
Ms. Badean spoke highly of the officers of the Birthday Wishes Club: Matthew Byrne, Mikah Covelli, Maria Torti, Mary Mackenzie, Emily Weisenfeld, Emily Vomvas and Sophia Dean.  Ms. Badean commended them for their outstanding work, determination and leadership.
General meetings are hosted once a month on a Monday, and Fundraisers are 2-3 times per month on Wednesdays. The next meeting will be hosted on Monday, January 29, in room 220 in the science wing. All new members, regardless of grade, are welcome. Students interested in joining can also sign up to the club’s Remind by texting @Bdaywishes to 81010. All are encouraged to join The Birthday Wishes Club and help change a child’s life for the better.
