Ms. Wink is the newest physical education and health teacher at Oyster Bay High School.
She grew up in Seaford, Long Island, and graduated from Adelphi University with a Bachelors degree in Physical Education and Health and a Masters degree in Adapted Physical Education. Prior to joining Oyster Bay’s staff, she was a permanent substitute teacher in Levittown. This is her first full-time role as a physical education teacher, but last year students had the pleasure of getting to know Ms. Wink when she took over Mr. Davis’ classes for a few days.

Ms. Wink played softball in college, and in addition to teaching, she is the Varsity Softball coach here at OB. Last season, she led the Varsity Softball team to a successful season, with 13 wins and 6 losses. She is also the Junior Varsity Volleyball coach.
In addition to coaching, Ms. Wink loves getting involved with school activities and getting to know her students better. “It is nice having cafeteria duty and being a coach because I get to know my students on a more personal level.”
Ms. Wink enjoys teaching all different grade levels because the students in each grade have unique personalities. “I like having different grades because the energy level is different for each grade,” she says.
Education has always been a part of Ms. Wink’s life, inspiring her to pursue teaching. “My mom is a principal, my dad is a teacher and my brother is a teacher as well,” she reveals.
Ms. Wink adds her own personal touch when developing lessons. She created the ninth and tenth grade Olympics, along with other games played during gym class. “Boccer,” a mix of baseball and soccer, is a game created by Ms. Wink.
The Project Adventure unit is her preferred unit to teach. “Project Adventure is my favorite. It allows me to get to know the student better, and the students learn more about each other,” she reveals.
The students are already enjoying gym class with Ms. Wink this year. Ninth grader Caitlin Fuschetto reveals, “I love how interactive the games are. They require working together as a class, which enables me to get to know my peers and Ms. Wink better.”
Off the field, Ms. Wink loves spending time with her family, going to the beach and hiking.
Ms. Wink is a great addition to the Physical Education Department here at OBHS. Students are excited to learn more about their newest teacher and continue to have a great time during Physical Education class.
