In the main office of OBHS, you will find the school district’s new Publicity Director, Mrs. Felicia Febrizio. As all of us know, our beloved Tom Gould retired from the school district last year. When I sat down with Mrs. Febrizio and asked her about her expectations concerning her new position, she made it clear that she is “ready to take the challenge head on” and “is very excited to be here at Oyster Bay.”
Mrs. Felicia Febrizio comes to Oyster Bay with a wealth of experience in the areas of communications and public relations. Her prior work experience includes being the Communications Director for the Suffolk County Girl Scouts, and performing public relations work for the Merrick, Freeport, Elmont, and Hempstead school districts. Immediately before coming to Oyster Bay, Mrs. Febrizio was the Public Relations Specialist for the Massapequa and Seaford School Districts.

Mrs. Febrizio enjoys all aspects of her job, which include the important responsibilities of updating the district’s website and writing stories for the Oyster Bay Observer. Every week, she searches for stories of interest involving our district’s schools, administration, faculty, and students.
To be successful as a publicity director, Mrs. Febrizio revealed that “you must be an excellent communicator, a good writer and well rounded overall.” At the end of the day, her favorite part of the job is “building relationships with people.”
When asked to explain her expectations as our district’s Publicity Director, Mrs. Febrizio enthusiastically indicated, “What I hope to accomplish this year is building relationships with the students, the staff and community, learning about Oyster Bay-East Norwich traditions, culture and initiatives, and determining the best strategies for publicizing our schools and the students they serve.”
She looks forward to “integrating changes to our district website for easier navigation, working closely with our local media for news coverage and spotlighting our students, staff and schools in our district newsletter, on our website, in the local media and on social media.”
Mrs. Febrizio went on to reveal, “Oyster Bay-East Norwich is a wonderful district, and I am delighted to be a part of it.”
The new publicity director has already proven to be a valuable asset to the district, and the staff at The Harbour Voice wishes her much success as she continues her work this year.
