As the 2018-2019 school year comes to a conclusion, summer is right around the corner. One popular summer hotspot is Montauk, New York. Montauk is approximately two hours from Oyster Bay. This town is filled with plenty of beaches, restaurants, and shops to keep visitors busy. If you’re thinking of heading to Montauk this summer, here are the top five things to do during your stay.


1: Montauk Point Lighthouse

Montauk Point Lighthouse is a Montauk staple and the perfect place to visit on your vacation. A trip to the lighthouse is a great place to go when you want to take a break from the beach, and you’re even allowed to climb to the top. Montauk Point Lighthouse was constructed in 1796, and it’s the oldest lighthouse in New York. The fee to enter and ascend to the top is $8.00.

2: Montauk Bake Shoppe
The Montauk Bake Shoppe is the perfect location to grab breakfast in the morning. It’s located right in the center of town, at 29 The Plaza A. Montauk Bake Shoppe has pastries and morning beverages to jump start your day!

3: Rita’s Stable
Rita’s Stable is the perfect place for horseback riding during your Montauk stay. Located right outside the town, this is an ideal spot to head to for a short ride. Patrons can choose from different rides, even private rides along the beach, for varying prices. The stable also provides pony rides for children. For those who plan to ride, Rita’s Stable provides an instructor who leads you through the trails. This stable is located at 3 West Lake Drive, Montauk, NY. 

4: Navy Beach
One of the most famous beachside restaurants in Montauk, Navy Beach is the perfect place for dinner. Navy Beach is located on a private beach, and there’s dining located indoors and outdoors. This restaurant also caters to private events, such as group dinners, receptions, and weddings. Although the menu is on the pricier side, the variety of food, including delicious salads and seafood, is worth the splurge. This restaurant is located at 16 Navy Road, Montauk, NY.

5: Ben and Jerry's
Ben and Jerry's is an ice cream parlor with a location in Montauk. It is an ideal spot to visit after dinner. Patrons can visit the shop, which has both indoor and outdoor seating and is open from 1 pm to 9 pm. Some of the unique ice cream flavors include Americone Dream, Milk n’ Cookies, and Half Baked. This location is unique in that it includes non-dairy flavors and frozen yogurt flavors as well. Ben and Jerry’s is located at 478 West Lake Drive, Montauk, NY.
